WHAT CAN I DO TO HELP SAVE THE DELTA QUEEN?

There are several things you can do to help save the Delta Queen.

  1. Ask your Mayor and City Council to pass a resolution at their next City Council meeting

The Resolution should be something like this, have the City Seal affixed, and mail a signed copy to your Congress Member, and both your United States Senators.

Be It Resolved, By the  (Mayor and City Council) of the City/Town/Borough, State,

Whereas, the Delta Queen is the oldest over night extended Steam River boat in the United States, still operating on the Major Rivers of America, and

Whereas, The Delta Queen is on the National Register as a National Monument, like the Statue of Liberty, The famous “General” Steam Locomotive, the Grand Canyon, the Redwood Forests, and more, and,

Whereas, the Delta Queen’s safety record is perfect, never having a person’s life lost by fire, or any other safety factor, and

Whereas, the Delta Queen is safer for overnight passengers, than some Hotels built of wood, and several stories high. The Delta Queen is only four stories high, and there are night watchmen throughout the night, fire drills, fire hose system, safety boats, and a river people can jump into without harm if necessary, and

Whereas, the Delta Queen brings economic dollars to the Cities and Towns where it stops, buying fuel, groceries, and the passengers spending their money the local communities, which would be a tremendous economic loss for those Cities, should the boat be put out of commission?

Therefore, now be it resolved, by the Mayor and City Council of the City of YOUR CITY, STATE, on this the __ day of Month, 2007, We urge you, as our Representative and United States Senator to use your influence to save a piece of Americana, the Delta Queen.
